Summer Road Trip Part 5

Trilo dig!!!! Yay!
With a freshly patched tire and a refill on water jugs, we ventured back out into the wilds!

Instead of going down the road to a BLM area to dig (where we got the flat tire),
we went to a pay site, A New Dig INC
Essentially, they use big machinery to scoop up piles of shale. We split them open to find the goodies. Easy and fun. Within our 2 hours we found maybe 80 trilos parts, wholes, and fossil imprints. I'm going to make jewelry from some small specimens. Worth the 60 bucks.

Great view

Afterwards, we found a great campsite nearby

I'm baaack!

Ok, yes I left blogger and yes I now have a website----but I couldn't figure out to add comments to my blog in iWeb so-- I'm back and I'll try to be a better blogger!!!!!
In Sturgeon Bay this past weekend, I won my first ribbon, "Honorable Mention".
I feel like a prize pony! *grins* According to my mom "it's about time!" Isn't that what mom's are for?

It was abnormally hot --90's both days. Almost no wind to boot! As always, I met some very nice people. Since it was slow, I had time to talk to other artists. My neighbor Lala is so funny and my new creative friend, Joy, is very talented and very nice. I also got some info about self publishing and about licensing for the gift market from two other artists.

It may be summer break for my kids (almost-fri is their last day), but school is in session for me. I signed up for
Kelly Rae Roberts class on running a creative biz. That is the info I need. I sometimes wonder if I should have gotten a biz or marketing degree instead of in art. I figure I'd still be making art, but then I'd know what to do with it all! So far Kelly has shared a lot of good info and insight...and it is just the first week!

Baby, It's Dangerously Cold Outside!

I can't believe it got even colder! At 8:15 this morning it was -21 degrees in my yard. The poor animals! I made sure to restock the birdfeeder. I quick snapped these pics.

TTV snapshot out my back deck...may even be the same chickadee

I try to give the birds water all winter by using a heated dog bowl. It keeps the water just above freezing. The rock in the center makes it easier for the birds to drink. You can see the frost is creeping in.

baby it's cold outside!

I'm feeling soooo much better. It must have been the flu. It came on so fast and now I'm just tired. I'm getting everything ready for this weekend.
I know it will be very cold, but please come to the Dells for the
Flake Out Festival

Yes it will be cold, but there is arts and crafts inside...activities for kids.
Then brave the cold for a while and enjoy the ice carving and snow sculptures!
This is January in Wisconsin so it will be cooooold!

Photo experiments

I haven't had much time to experiment with photography lately,
but I did take a few pics.Snowy Branch-

I tried shooting thru my binoculars. It's a bit tougher to get it just right. I used a sliced of toilet paper tube to space my digital camera the correct distance from the eyepiece.
